And there it's Richard Butler from P L or dot meat. And in today's video,
0:03
I'm going to show you how easy it is to edit our reports and eBooks
0:08
using just Google docs, which is for free.
0:11
So it doesn't matter if you don't have word,
0:13
you can still edit our documents using Google docs.
0:21
Now, here I am in Google docs.
0:22
The first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go to new and I'm going to say
0:25
file upload. And I'm going to choose the document here.
0:29
The keys to being a great leader,
0:31
I click on upload and this will upload to Google docs down here. You'll see it.
0:36
And once it's uploaded, I just click on it to open it.
0:40
It will take just a couple of seconds to load up,
0:42
cause it's quite a big document with some graphics in it.
0:46
So here's the document loaded up.
0:48
And what I want to do now is I want to change the cover here.
0:53
So where do you find images? Well,
0:54
be very careful because you can't just download an image from the web that you
0:57
like. You need to make sure that there's no copyright issues.
1:01
So we recommend this site pick survey,
1:03
which allows you to search for different images.
1:06
So I'm going to type in meetings and I think I'm going to choose
1:11
this image here of the conference room. So I just click on it.
1:15
I click on free download.
1:17
I choose the size that I want in 1920 by 1280 is perfect.
1:21
And I click on download and it may ask me to confirm that I'm not a
1:26
robot, which I'm not just in case. Um,
1:29
so I'd click on download and that download to my computer. Now,
1:33
if I go back to the document I click anywhere are probably near the bottom of
1:37
the document is good. So I don't get any text in the way.
1:41
And I go to replace image upload from computer and I choose the conference
1:46
room JPG and OPIC count.
1:49
And I think that looks really good what'd you can do now is you can decide to
1:53
change some of the texts.
1:54
So I might decide to just change this to how to be an exceptional
1:59
leader. So I double click on this.
2:03
It opens up as a Google drawing and I changed this to exceptional
2:10
and I just make this a little bit wider and then I click save and close,
2:15
and I'm going to actually change this text as well. Now this is in white,
2:19
so it's a little bit difficult to see. So I'm going to call this here,
2:24
how to be an certain clothes. And now I see it.
2:29
Now the spacing is a little bit off here, so, uh,
2:33
I'm going to click on this text and I'm just going to just be a little bit more
2:37
precise.
2:38
I'm going to hold the shift key and use the arrow key to move the actual text
2:42
box up. Now, why do I do that?
2:44
Because sometimes if you click on the text and try and move it,
2:48
it may move the image. And this is just a little bit quicker and easier.
2:52
I'm going to do the same with this one
2:56
and the how to inspire others. I'm going to bring that down as well.
3:04
Now let's continue on and see what we do next. Well,
3:08
I can put my name after the copyright symbol here,
3:11
and if I want to change the actual footer, which I should,
3:15
I can just double click down on the footer. And I just click out of there now,
3:20
going down through the document,
3:22
the only other things that I might want to change is for example,
3:24
this background picture again, I click on it. I click replace image. I say,
3:29
upload from computer and here,
3:32
I'm going to take an image of stones and that looks perfect.
3:37
If I want to change the text,
3:38
I would do exactly what I did before double click on it.
3:41
I'd make changes from there.
3:43
Now the next thing that sometimes causes problems is these drop capitals.
3:47
So what I'm going to do is I'm just going to delete those capitals and bring
3:52
this up to the next page by hitting the backspace.
3:55
And I'm just going to put in the how here and now I could actually just increase
4:00
that a little bit. If I wanted. Now,
4:01
sometimes when you're working with Google docs, strange things can happen.
4:04
So what I'm simply going to do here is I'm going to just put in these
4:09
bullet points here and I'll just delete them from here.
4:13
And then I continue down here. So as you can see,
4:16
Google docs can definitely be used to edit our content.
4:20
So when you're ready to publish this,
4:21
you go to file and you go to download and you choose
4:25
PDF and that downloads the PDF. It should look great.
4:29
Now here's one little tip.
4:31
Just make sure that you actually change the name of the PDF. You can right.
4:36
Click on the PDF and just change it. Otherwise the name remains the same.
4:40
So you do have any questions, just let me know in the comments below,
4:43
and I'll talk to you in the next video.
