Now we're getting into the meat of this course marketing.
0:06
So the first thing I wanted to tell you is I didn't create you to any courses to become rich.
0:11
I mean, are you dummy instructor for about four months now?
0:13
And I haven't broken $1,000 or a thousand euros in revenue, but I don't mind why?
0:20
Because I went into this knowing that what you done was going to do for me was provide my courses to a wider audience and allow me, and this is key to get non-biased reviews and those non-biased reviews and now be used on my website or any other promotional material.
0:39
I can also now put on my website, Richard Butler needing new any instructor and not has a little bit more oomph about you that you, Jamie are a very big company.
0:50
You dummy are very well known and people are saying that Richard Butler's really good.
0:54
So by association people say, well, Richard Butler must be very good because if he's on Udemy, if you've got very good reviews, he must be a quality coach.
1:04
That's the first thing, testimony.
1:07
The second thing is it gives you good practice for creating other courses and for doing live events because you're not going to be shy on camera anymore.
1:15
First time you do a course, it's going to be very difficult.
1:17
The second time, it's very easy the entire time.
1:19
It's going to be a lot more simple.
1:21
But how do you make money?
1:22
For me, dummy is the big question that you probably have.
1:26
Well, the first thing is that you cannot make any extra money from you.
1:30
Damage apart from the revenue that you receive from your actual courses.
1:37
You see you Demi don't want you to start promoting affiliate products or any type of business via their courses that goes against their terms and services.
1:50
The only opportunity you get to promote in your bonus lectures where you can link to your website.
1:56
I wouldn't link explicitly to an opt in page.
2:01
I wouldn't make explicitly to a product, but I would mention you can find my products and services on my blog, for example.
2:08
So the idea here is there's two.
2:10
There's two ideas.
2:11
The first one is in the bonus lectures.
2:13
You try and siphon people off to your website, but I think the key is to try and get people to your Facebook group.
2:20
What'd you would say is if you want to get in touch with me directly, come join the Facebook group where I will personally answer questions and provide more educational trainings for free and this filters people into your Facebook group.
2:32
Once they're in your Facebook group, you can then start to subtly market to them.
2:36
I'm going to get into some of the really important information that you'd tell me.
2:39
The first thing you need to do is you need to have people in your course.
2:44
You Denley themselves so you can get 20 people in the first month that isn't.
2:48
That is good on the first week, it's a very low number.
2:51
I'm getting two or 300 people in the first couple of days.
2:55
Now look at two courses, one course, 20 people, another course has a thousand people in it.
3:03
Which one are you going to buy?
3:05
Probably psychologically we're going to buy the one with a thousand people in it.
3:10
So your aim is to get as many people into the course as quick as possible.
3:14
How do you do this?
3:16
Free coupons.
3:18
You discount your course on, you create coupons for maybe the first class when people to get the course for free.
3:25
This is how I have managed to consistently have a minimum of 1500 students in each course.
3:32
So I create three types of coupons.
3:34
I created a number of free coupons for the different groups that I'm in and the different websites that I use.
3:42
I then create a friends and family coupon for $9 99 I then create a, maybe I subscribe our only coupon for $19 99 let's talk about free people.
3:56
There are people out there who are known as course collectors and what they will do is when they see free coupons, they will join the course, but they may take months until they actually take the course or interact with the course of the free people who join your course.
4:11
Maybe five to 10% will actually progress through the course and there's a lower amount of people that will actually complete the course.
4:19
But we don't care about that.
4:21
To be honest, Don is not my concern.
4:23
What I want is numbers and I want a number of reviews because I need to get the ball rolling to get this course busy and to get this course with people.
4:34
So here's the honest truth.
4:35
You see that I have over five and a half thousand students on my course.
4:40
That doesn't mean eight that are active RPN that they've all paid.
4:45
Now, is there anything wrong with this?
4:46
Personally, I don't think so because my Ang going into this was not to create money from you.
4:52
To me it was to use it as a lead attraction to, my aim was to get reviews so I can put on my website so that people buy my services.
5:01
My aim was to get people into the course and filter them out into my Facebook group.
5:07
No, I would know the 5,000 people.
5:09
How many convert over to the Facebook group?
5:11
Quite a small percentage.
5:14
again, like everything, they come to the Facebook group and there's only two members in the Facebook group, they probably won't join.
5:21
So this is a slow process.
5:22
I'm looking at the long game here at that.
5:24
This time next year I'll have a couple of thousand people in the Facebook group.
5:28
All it takes is that you have one or two founds that will buy our products.
5:34
I've already seen some members of my Facebook group who will always buy my courses.
5:39
I also have some members who will buy my products because they've seen my courses.
5:45
They like the way I deliver.
5:47
They liked the quality of what I deliver and they will buy my courses.
5:51
This is what you're looking for.
5:53
Don't expect that the 5,000 people are all going to convert into buyers.
5:57
Of the 5,000 people, maybe I've got 500 that will actively take the course and of that 500 maybe you get 75 people who want to join the Facebook group.
6:09
I know that's 75 people.
6:11
Maybe you won't get to purchase something, but those two people are two people more that are now your customers.
6:20
That didn't cost you anything in order to actually become customers.
6:25
So you see where this is going.
6:26
This is about using free sources to drive traffic back to your Facebook group in order to be able to market to people.
6:35
They're talking about financial.
6:37
Obviously I will never ask anybody or I will never disclose what I'm earning.
6:42
You Demi take quite a lot of cut on every course that you sell.
6:47
If you sell the course yourself from your own advertising, you get 97% of the course fee depending if you're working with the co-instructor that's then halfed, but they will also promote your course with their many coupons, with their organic reach of people.
7:06
I'm typing in of course mindfulness and then my course comes up.
7:09
They will take a higher percentage there.
7:11
Or if it's the advertising program where they are actually advertising your course, again, they will take quite a substantial call, but look at it this way.
7:22
If I am getting paid to generate leads, that to me is a win win.
7:29
So if every lead that I get in is actually paying me to become a lead, our perspective need that to me is perfect.
7:38
So going to UGME wick, this idea going to you dummy with this notion.
7:45
Dot.
7:45
You're not in it for the money.
7:47
You're in it for a, the practice of getting on camera, be rehearsing what you're going to say in live events.
7:55
See getting our message out there to more people.
7:59
D getting reviews and he finally converting people to prospective leads.
8:06
Let's get into the practicalities.
8:07
I'm going to switch over to the screen recording and I'm going to reveal, and I've never revealed this before, but I'm going to reveal some of the ways that I get free students into my courses very, very quickly and I think you'd be quite amazed by this and do you know what the worst thing is?
8:24
The worst thing is is if you created a really good course and you don't force students after a month, I would sooner have 1000 free students than for paid students.
8:36
Why?
8:37
Because if I'm coming in, I see a course and there's four students.
8:40
I think tumbleweed, cobwebs.
8:43
Nobody really is interested in this course.
8:45
Whereas if I see a course from a thousand students, I don't know if they have paid or not, but I say this has some sort of gravity on it.
8:53
This has some sort of, I'm a designer for that course.
8:57
Okay, so hopefully that's explained to everything.
8:59
I'm going to switch over to the screen recording and let's see what you think of my marketing
9:04
in my mindfulness to create an amazing life and the first thing I do is I go into the course and I go to price and coupons and what I want to do is I want to create a number of different types of coupons.
9:17
Here you will see all of the coupon codes that have been created.
9:22
You'll see there's a column for link, you'll see the price, you'll see how many are remaining when they were created and a deadline.
9:30
If I've put a deadline and I work extensively with Scott Patton who is an expert, you Damien structure, and in order to track where we're getting our traffic from, he creates coupons from self.
9:45
I create coupons for myself so I can see which one of these is actually working well.
9:50
So at the moment I can see for example, this particular coupon that I created hasn't got me any leads where as this coupon here, promo coupons, 20 four.com
10:00
833 are remaining.
10:03
I normally create a thousand coupons.
10:05
So that's what 166 people have subscribed via there.
10:10
So I can easily see which are the best places to actually put up my coupons.
10:16
This particular site here, I created 1,800 people came in from there.
10:22
So I know that one definitely works.
10:24
You also have to think that may be the course is not what people are looking for.
10:29
So the best thing to do is to create a number of coupons and then keep testing per course.
10:33
Some websites will ask you to put in a specific name for the coupon.
10:38
So for example, this site here, promo coupons 24 if I just bring this up, asks that the coupon code is actually called promo coupons 24 now when I come up here, what I do is I don't, I'm not going to go through every single site and show you how to submit to every single site, but I go to promo coupons 24 I say submit coupon and I can, if I want, I can give a donation or I can get a free listing.
11:08
Now I've found that the free listings are perfect, so it tells me here in order to publish her 100% of course, please issue your coupon with the name promo coupons 24 I fill in all the details there.
11:19
I fill in the course link and then what I do is I just copy and paste the course description and I click submit.
11:26
So you can see here I'm promo coupons.
11:28
24 got 200 sign ups from there.
11:31
Now I have to create the coupon with that name, so let me just go in and create a new coupon.
11:36
Now, the first thing is that the coupon must all be in capitals so long.
11:40
I'm going to call this free course or me and I might put FB to say that this is going to be for Facebook or I might put another code so I know exactly where that's coming from.
11:50
I put in free, I say number of copies one and I create coupon.
11:55
From there I click on get link, this comes up and this is the URL that I would give out.
12:01
If I wanted to create a paid coupon, I'd go back, I put in paid discount and I could say this is a discounted price and I put seven 99 I put one copy and what you don't mean is going to say is price cannot be smaller are lower than nine 99 so I have to change this, put it in as nine 99 and I create coupon and that is now a paid discount.
12:26
So if you want to give out a lower priced coupon to three friends, you would just put in three and that will just do that.
12:34
Once you submit a coupon to a site, like this promo coupon is 24 it can take maybe 24 hours in order for you to start getting traffic.
12:43
So I'm just going to go into Facebook here and you can see there's a number of free coupon groups that I also use and what I'll be doing is I'll be giving you a list of the Facebook groups that I use.
12:53
So this is my main marketing strategy.
12:56
Get people into the course for free so that people will then start seeing that there's 1000 students in the course.
13:03
This builds momentum and over the coming months, more and more people will buy into that course.
13:09
Now remember you damn meat will always discount courses, so it's very rare if at all that somebody would buy the course at full price.
13:17
But when they see a discount of 90% off and the course was $199 and they see it for nine 99 that gives the perceived value and they will purchase.
13:29
Remember that you tell me we'll take a cart on every single course sold.
13:33
If you sell the course by our own marketing methods, you will keep 97% of the course price and that may have to be divided between instructors.
13:44
If you Demi promote your course or if a person signs up through you Dami organic search, you Demi will take 50% these rates vary but this is where you are getting paid for these leads because you're not doing any extra work and you Demi are marketing for you.
14:03
Come into the idea of building a course as a way to attract leads.
14:07
Now what other marketing methods do I use on Facebook?
14:11
I may ping France on the chat.
14:14
I may give them free access to the course in exchange for a review.
14:20
I will also copy and paste an image of a review of the course and I will post that on social media with a link to the discount and by doing all of these things, on one hand I'm going to get some free students in.
14:34
On the other hand, once I had those free students are going to have reviews, which will allow me to then publish this on social media and get some paid students in.
14:46
Now the idea is that after a couple of months you will have about five to 10 courses which you can then cross promote.
14:56
So if I go in here to communications, what you're going to see is that I have two types of communications.
15:01
I have announcements, which is educational content that supplements your course.
15:06
So this could be, I've just written a blog post about such and such.
15:11
I've just upload a new video to the Facebook group, ensure that you watch this video or I can use promotional emails, which is where I can promote new and existing courses.
15:23
You will see here that there were two announcements made in April and it tells me the open rate, the click through rate, the unsubscribe rate, et cetera.
15:31
So this is another way of marketing that once you have four or five courses, you start to cross sell the courses.
15:38
I hope you've enjoyed this course.
15:40
Just to let you know that I have these other four courses available and I've included a discount on that course.
15:48
After this, you can start using traditional marketing.
15:52
If you wanted, you could use AdWords, you could use being ads, et cetera.
15:58
You could start doing retargeting.
15:59
All of though you Demi will also do retargeting for you when somebody looked at one of your courses.
16:05
That's why you're getting such a small commission because they are actively remarketing your courses.
16:12
Don't forget your mailing list.
16:14
Don't forget your website to put the courses on the testimonials from the courses on a page called online courses by Richard Butler.
16:23
Below this video, I've also included a list of some of the groups on the websites that I use in order to get free students into my course, but I think the key thing here is that you must get students into your course within the first 48 hours because if you release the course and there's no students in it, it's very hard to get the momentum going.
